‌京剧电影《四郎探母》讲述了宋将杨四郎被俘后改名木易，与辽国铁镜公主成婚。十五年后，宋辽战争再起，杨四郎得知母亲佘太君率军来到雁门关，决定探望母亲。‌杨四郎在九龙飞虎峪摆下天门阵，宋太宗亲征，佘太君押运粮草至雁门关。杨四郎得到铁镜公主的帮助，盗取令箭，私自出关探望母亲。他在雁门关与母亲和家人团聚，但因违反军令，连夜赶回辽邦，被萧太后擒拿问斩。最终，经过铁镜公主和其他人的求情，杨四郎得以免罪‌。

The Peking Opera film The Fourth Son Visits His Mother tells the story of Yang Silang, a Song general captured by the Liao Kingdom and renamed Mu Yi. He marries Princess Tiejing of Liao. Fifteen years later, war breaks out again between the Song and Liao. Upon learning that his mother, She Taijun, is leading an army to Yanmenguan, Yang Silang decides to visit her.

With the help of Princess Tiejing, Yang Silang steals a military token and secretly leaves the Liao borders to reunite with his mother and family at Yanmenguan. However, as he has violated military orders, he rushes back to Liao territory overnight, only to be captured by Empress Dowager Xiao, who orders his execution. In the end, thanks to the pleas of Princess Tiejing and others, Yang Silang is pardoned.
