Description
1. Opening song: PANAMA!
David Lee Roth at @TheParamount. Dave, forever the showman and front man. The sold out SRO crowd was on fire the whole show. I say the crowd was 60/40(maybe 65/35) men to women. Parents brought their kids. One group of kids(earlier to mid 20s) I talked too came by themselves bc they never saw Van Halen live, and didn't want to miss the chance of seeing Dave, esp after Ozzy passed according to one of em.
It was a really fun time. Is Dave's like he was? Of course not. The guy's 70. But man, you can still see his love of performing. At times he did sound great. A few other times it was good. He never sounded horrible thankfully. He did belt out some of his patented screams/yells/yeah's, etc. He worked the crowd. Cracked jokes. Twirled his baton like his samurai sword of old and the crowd ate it up.
His band itself is really good. The guitar player is nasty! His young bassist is really good. The drummer was on point. He's got 5 guy's as backup singers off to the side singing along w the chorus. They were good, too. But them, plus the bassist and keyboardists combined vocal pitches IMO are too high. For certain songs, w Dave's high pitch and theirs, if their register was an octave lower, it would've had a greater impact IMO.
HERE'S the opener... PANAMA!
