Description
It’s Magic (Styne-Cahn) by Doris Day, orchestra conducted by George Siravo
Though her lovely singing voice had helped sell a couple million records during her years with the Les Brown band, it was her star-making feature film acting debut in “Romance On The High Seas” that really set the Doris Day career into high gear. Helping things along was the Sammy Cahn-Jule Styne ballad that she sang in the movie...and recorded in this #2 best-selling single for Columbia. In addition to this original hit version, her dramatic 1952 remake of “It’s Magic,” lushly arranged by Percy Faith, was commonly reissued over the years. Tony Martin, Dick Haymes, Sarah Vaughan and Gordon MacRae’s top-20 versions of this Oscar-nominated tune are also included in the 1948 collection.
