Description
The biggest hit tune from (Tony winner) Irving Berlin’s successful 1950 musical “Call Me Madam,” introduced on-stage by (Tony winner) Ethel Merman and (Tony winner) Russell Nype.
RCA Victor Records obtained the “original cast” recording rights to the play, but Merman was unable to participate due to her exclusive contract with Decca. So RCA’s “Call Me Madam” album teamed Nype with their own Dinah Shore while Decca brought in Dick Haymes to join Ethel on their ‘unofficial’ cast album. Other recordings of this tune posted to the channel include the top-selling Perry Como version and one by the Martha Tilton-Harry Babbitt duo.
45rpm issue on Decca 27355 - You’re Just In Love (Berlin) by Ethel Merman and Dick Haymes, orchestra and chorus of Gordon Jenkins, recorded October 17, 1950 .
