Description

This lick is FAST. 5 seconds. 28 notes. TWO TIMES.

Smokin'. Real Tasty. What other guitar cliches can I think of?

I like it.

Although I wish somebody else would have tabbed it out and I just copy them. Much easier.

Where are all the drugged out geriatric diehard "parrotheads"? (Our parents.) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parrothead)

Don't they have electric guitars?

Nevermind. Sold them for drugs. Just like your college fund.

Pretty strong country influence. Album was produced by Don Gant so he probably used some top-drawer Nashville stud. Although Jimmy says "Coral Reefers" so I guess it was Reggie Young?

Either way I don't have the right guitar (or chops) for it. I mean, watch the picking hand. That's just bad technique all around. Now watch me care. Keep watching...

Tone is a 8/10. Playing is a 8/10. But it's there, parrothead.

Also. Grapefruit? Juicy Fruit? I don't even know what the f-ck this songs about?

Just kidding. I'm on the up and up. Jimmy's a great story teller and this is obviously about gum. (Or ... life on the road.) Not as eloquent as "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw" (also on this album) - but close.

Jimmy himself just seems ageless, carefree, and fun.

Like he'd be a blast to hang out with.

Unlike you.

MUSICAL MANIFESTO for my postmortem (and first timers):

I am posting lessons of things I can't find. With TAB. And exact tone settings. I call it, "sharing."

I have noticed a few things about the music "community" that are going to make me extremely unpopular.

1) Everyone likes to show their face (/boobs). Stop it. We want to see your instrument.
2) No one likes to share their process. Start it. I am not impressed by your secrets.
3) Everyone is better than everyone else. Who cares? Most of us are not professional musicians. I play so I don't jump out of a 30 story window. I am good enough for me. I can assure you I don't care what you think. Because I barely care what I think. Be kinder to people. Or at least be funny. But you're not funny. So you should just be kind.
4) Gear envy. Why do you care what other people have? Or the decisions they make with their funds? If a man buys a $4000 guitar but it inspires him to play daily and he is not hurting you, then that is the right guitar for him. Even if it sounds like sh-t. You can pound sand. Good things aren't cheap. Cheap things aren't good. And sometimes expensive things aren't good either. One size does not fit all. Focus on yourself. I can understand why people lose faith in humanity. Your biggest motivation should be self competition. Not worrying about what someone else is doing.
5) Mean comments. Stop it. You can't hurt my feelings. I don't have any. That's the problem. But other people do. And it doesn't make sense to hurt them. The NSA has files on all of us. And most of us can be summed up in 3 words, "fat and unimportant." (SP)
6) Other peoples musical taste. Are ... other peoples musical taste? Why do I even need to explain this? Leave them alone. Don't be weak minded. Resist the temptation to automatically hate "pop music." Your heroes had heroes. Everyone finds inspiration from different sources. Cut it out.
7) Views/Subscriptions/Likes. Stop worrying about it. It's nonsense. It is not a reflection of your worth. Unless you let it be. Then it totally is a reflection of your worth. That's your power. Own it. I'm not going to give you the whole "if you help just one person." BUT IF YOU CAN HELP JUST ONE PERSON. Or how about if you helped no one, but kept your sanity? Felt a sense of accomplishment? Added a new tool to your tool kit? I don't mean to be crass, but f-ck other people and their judgment. Grade your own homework. But god damn it follow the 8 rules.
8) Everything I said I said with an air of superiority. Don't listen to me. Or do! I don't care.
