The 51 year old Italian tenor / pop singer, Andrea Bocelli, began his singing career in the late 80's, performing at piano bars. He continued to remain an undiscovered vocal treasure, until his first recording contract in 1993.

He was diagnosed as a child, with congenital Glaucoma. His eyesight was affected as a result. However, he completely lost his eyesight in a severe head injury accident at the young age of 12, while playing football.

Among his critics was the great Luciano Pavarotti, who truly admired the newly discovered young vocal talent. Bocelli's voice has often been compared to that of the young Luciano Pavarotti.

From his all Spanish album, Amore, he performs what is considered by many to be the best Bésame Mucho version ever recorded.

Bésame Mucho was written in 1936 by Consuelo Velázquez, a well known female songwriter from Mexico. She was 20 years old when she wrote the song. When asked, years later, whose love had inspired the powerful lyrics, she replied that she had written it before she had ever been kissed, and said that the entire song was a "product of imagination".

The lyrics of the song emphasize the importance of the present moment, and the concept of the Latin phrase, Carpe Diem ("Seize The Day"). The future is uncertain. Lets turn this moment into an eternal memory.
