Neal Hefti' wrote many iconic themes, including the 1960s superhero series "Batman". It became a Top 40 hit and won a Grammy Award in 1966 for best instrumental theme.
"Wipe Out" was written by Bob Berryhill, Pat Connolly, Jim Fuller and Ron Wilson. First performed and recorded by the Surfaris, who became famous with the single in 1963.
It has been featured in over 20 films and television series since 1964
Technical notes:
A "wipe out" is a fall from a surfboard, especially one that looks painful.
A "shark attack" is definitely painful.
