On the 18th of August 1966 the Battle of Long Tan took place to the north of Long Tan village, Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam.

While patrolling the Long Tan rubber plantation, Australian troops, mainly from Delta Company, 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment were attacked by Viet Cong and a large force of North Vietnamese troops.

At the end of the battle, 18 Australians had been killed and a further 24 were wounded. The Battle of Long Tan was the greatest loss of Australian lives in a single battle during the war.

The 18th of August 2016 was the 50th anniversary of the battle. The Battle of Long Tan was a decisive Australian victory.

The video includes the artillery, helicopter and armoured personnel carriers (APC's), which featured in the conflict.
