“Before you lose me” started out as a rebellion against my own sound.
I wrote it as an acoustic on my guitar but I wanted to step away from this acoustic sound I had grown familiar with. So I started by adding some dirty synths and a rough sounding bass. I also used this song as an excuse to finally add a vocoder (I wanted to do this for so long), which is a guilty pleasure of mine that I finally got to bring out to the world.
As a cherry on top I rocked out a solo that I personally really love. A fun side note: all the guitar parts are recorded on an acoustic guitar. I did this because I liked the warmth of the sound it originally had (before I added distortion). I tried to make this song sound as raw as possible to fit the frustration behind the lyrics.

“Before you lose me” is about an everlasting conversation with someone that only listens to their own story. While it’s not something I experienced recently, I got inspired for the lyrics through the vibe of the guitar melody I came up with. It felt like I was songwriting backwards.
I’ve done a lot of experimenting with this song and I think it paid off.
