Kunqu is one of the oldest forms of traditional opera in China. With a history of over 600 years, Kunqu is known as the "ancestor of all Chinese operas." At CGTN's Super Night 2024, "The Peony Pavilion" by Tang Xianzu, a well-known Kunqu opera, was performed. Tang is a renowned playwright of the Ming Dynasty, also known as "Eastern Shakespeare."

CGTN Super Night 2024 was held on Friday evening as Chinese people worldwide began celebrations for the Chinese New Year.
