My favourite version of this song - sung with moving resonance & haunting sincerity by Brielle. In my opinion, her voice & presentation of Cleopatra’s story completely blow away all other recordings of this number - including the original by The Lumineers.

The song was largely based on the experiences of a small town’s only lady cabdriver. When she was young, the man who was really the true love of her life chose to propose marriage just after her father passed away. She was too emotionally numb to accept & perhaps feeling rejected, he slipped away, left town & never returned. He remained an unattainable ideal & in time she married another man, had a child, divorced, began driving a cab for a living & saw her son & freedom from that unhappy marriage as the only gifts God ever bestowed upon her.
