Description
Join Taylor Ho Bynum and Hop Ensemble Fellow Noah Campbell '21 with guest Tomeka Reid, as they discuss art, improvisation, and creative practice.
Tomeka Reid is one of the leading figures in creative music of her generation — a composer and bandleader of increasing renown, a trailblazer on the cello and a favored collaborator of legends of the music like Roscoe Mitchell, Anthony Braxton and Nicole Mitchell. She is a tenacious scholar and grassroots organizer committed to celebrating the unsung figures in the community, currently working on a project recognizing women in the Association for the Advancement of Creative Music. Tomeka and Taylor are regular collaborators, and are beginning to work on a book discussing the history of creative music told from the artists' perspectives.
Funded in part by a gift from the Bob Gatzert 1951 Jazz Series Fund for the Hopkins Center and the Lewis Pace Poag 1972 Fund.
Each week, our virtual stage brings adventurous artistry into your living room.
