A creepy music box / scary music box theme with added violin, viola, sfx and sound design meant for dark scenes that need a light or vulnerable touch. Horror music can be very calming and this song is meant to be an example of that. The almost lullaby like theme played on a music box with very dark chord progressions means it is meant to both be scary and strangely timid.

Main instruments used are my own chimes / glockenspiel and kalimba, combined with the free (!) music box vst by DSK (which is absolutely fantastic: https://www.dskmusic.com/dsk-music-box/)

And of course my own violin and viola for added strings/ creepiness and my cajon for ambient percussion in the second theme. Topped of with recordings of glass plate hits with all kinds of cajon sticks.

There is something about dark stories that appeals to us. Noises heard in a house once home to a murdered family. Tales of a mysterious creature spotted in the night. A mind haunted by voices coming from seemingly nowhere. These songs are the soundtrack to those type of stories. Inspired by the enigma's found in horrorfilms and thrillers.
