Description
A #11 hit in Britain in the last third of 1979 for Welsh singer and producer Dave Edmunds, and it is another cover; this time the Hank DeVito classic 'Queen of Hearts'. Hank, a member of Emmylou Harris's one time back up The Hot Band. The song did not follow its predecessor, 'Girls Talk' into the Australian Top 10; stalling at #59, but would, some 18 months later be a bona fide hit for Juice Newton.
Dave Edmunds would only grace the British chart twice more after 'Queen of Hearts'': in 1980 with 'Singing the blues' and with Stray Cats in 1981 with 'The Race is On'. He would cross the Atlantic chart wise in 1983 with the Jeff Lynne penned and produced 'Slipping Away'.
