Description
Track 6 from his fifth solo album “Repeat When Necessary” released in 1979 copyright Led Zeppelin’s Swan Song Records. It was recorded at Eden Studios in London during the same sessions held for the recording of Nick Lowe’s album “Labour of Lust” on Columbia Records. Edmunds and Lowe were members of the band Rockpile that played on both albums but since they each had record deals as solo artists with different labels, they had to release two albums, one for each label. Much of the album features a rockabilly influence that Edmunds is well-known for in his guitar style. The album received excellent reviews and is his best-selling release. England’s Albert Lee is nothing short of fantastic as guest lead guitarist on the song “Sweet Little Lisa” written by Hank DeVito. Another DeVito song, “Queen of Hearts,” was released as a single and reached No. 11 in the U.K. The song was later covered by Juice Newton and reached the Top Ten in six countries and No. 2 on the Billboard chart. This album reached No. 54 on the Billboard chart. Written by Hank DeVito and produced by Dave Edmunds. Featuring:
Dave Edmunds – Lead vocals, lead & rhythm guitars & background vocals
Billy Bremner – Lead & rhythm guitars & background vocals
Nick Lowe – Bass & background vocals
Terry Williams – Drums
Special Guests:
Albert Lee – Lead guitar on “Sweet Little Lisa”
Roger Bechirian – Piano on “Girls Talk”
Huey Lewis – Harmonica on “Bad is Bad”
Midnight, I'm waitin' on the 1205
Hopin' it'll take me just a little farther down the line
Moonlight, you're just a heartache in disguise
Won't you keep my heart from breakin' if it's only for a very short time
Playin' with the Queen of Hearts, knowin' it ain't really smart
Joker ain't the only fool (who'll do anything for you)
(Layin' out another line, thinkin' 'bout a life of crime)
(That's what I have to do to keep me away from you)
Baby, it makes me feel so bad
Why is everybody tellin' everybody what you have done
And baby, I know it makes you sad
But when they're handin' out the heartache you know you got to have you some
Playin' with the Queen of Hearts, knowin' it ain't really smart
The joker ain't the only fool (who'll do anything for you)
(Layin' out another line, thinking 'bout a life of crime)
(That's what I have to do to keep me away from you)
Lovers, I know you've had a few
Hide your heart beneath the covers and you tell 'em they're the only one
And others know what I'm goin' through
It's so hard to be a lover when you say you only do it for fun
Playin' with the Queen of Hearts, knowin' it ain't really smart
The joker ain't the only fool (who'll do anything for you)
(Layin' out another line, thinking 'bout a life of crime)
(That's what I have to do to keep me away from you)
(To keep me away from you)
(To keep me away from you)
(To keep me away from you)
(To keep me away from you)
(To keep me away from you)
(To keep me away from you)
