Released by Bold Records in 1972, this album is basically a demo of the Tallahassee based band 31st of February credited to Duane and Greg Allman. Noted for the albums first track, “Melissa,” was later re-recorded by the Allman Brother’s Band. This is the second demo including this song, the first demo of which was recorded on the album “One More Try.”
Written in 1967 by Greg Allman, he sold the song later that year then reacquired in 1972 by their manager Phil Walden. The version best known of the song was recorded by the Allman Brother’s Band’s 1972 album “Eat a Peach” released as a tribute to Duane Allman six weeks after he died.
The album Duane and Greg Allman was recorded at TK Studios in Hialeah, FL in September, 1968 and produced by Steve Alaimo.
