Description
Lina Margy - Tu M’Apportes (You Bring To Me…) Slow-fox (Musique & Paroles Jacques Fuller) Orchestre dir. Félix Chardon, Odéon 1943 (France)
NOTE: Lina MARGY (née Marguerite Verdier 1909 in Bort-les-Orgues – d. 1973 in Paris). Her name is predominantly remembered as performer of the great 2nd World War-time French hit “Ah ! Le petit vin blanc” lyrics by Jean Dréjac and music of Charles Borel-Clerc. This song was a great success, with sales rate nearly one million copies! – as for the years of the German occupation of France, the incredible number! Lina was a light and playful singer, with the exotic "r" roll in the lineage of Rina Ketty; she stands away from the “tragic” and realistic French singing of the interwar years, such as Damia, Edith Piaf or Berthe Sylva. In the end of her career she was known as promorter of the new French sopngwriters (Georges Brassens, Brel, etc.) during her numerous tours around the world. She is buried in the Montrouge cemetery in Paris.
