Sandilands played his first ever show, musically, at the age of 47 at The Alma Cafe in beautiful Cape Town on the 20th of August 2022. His fellow gunslingers were the inimitable Sirs Schalk Joubert on bass and Albert Frost on electric guitar. He played ukelele's, told some stories about life from his particular transient experience and sang some tunes he had written and composed over the last two years. Photographer Jacqui van Staden took some pictures and this gave him the opportunity to make this little video featuring her stills. She took every snap. Huge amount of people who deserves mention and thanks, and he probably forgot half of them, but truly "Thank You!" for the tremendous support, collaborations and friendships forged over many years. The standing ovation at the end came as a shock of sorts, it was so unexpected. We did something ancient this evening. We were primitive and vulnerable and gathered round the fire to share some external point of focus: life, existence, the now. People smiled and gave each other hugs.
