Canadian Jazz Chanteuse Holly Cole issued 'Make it go away' on her 1997 pop crossover 'Dark Dear Heart' and then it was reworked on her next set 'Romantically Helpless' in 2000. I have used the audio from the latter and the concept clip from the former! I discovered Holly Cole quite by accident in 1996 when I was looking to broaden my musical horizons. I turned to country, folk, bluegrass and jazz in my efforts to 'mature' my somewhat retro tastes having grown up on glam pop, disco and meat and potatoes rock and roll. Holly Cole is a boutique artist of the highest order. With a distinctive voice, sensibilities that defy easy categorization, and a cool, stylish image, Holly was the panacea for where I felt culturally arrested in my development. I have continued to enjoy and pursue her recordings in the ensuing 21 years and am always excited when Ms Cole releases her all too seldom new material.
