RE: Dick Coulson the Innovator/Collaborator: This isn’t really a video as much as a backdrop for one of Dick’s songs. He noticed that there was a rarely-used projection system set up at Memphis Smoke (Royal Oak, MI) where he not only performed, but occasionally worked the sound board. He contemplated projecting the Pounders name and logo behind them as they played – an improvement on the time-honored practice of painting your name on a sheet of black oilcloth and hanging it on the wall behind the drum set (e.g.: Desserts or Radio City). We did that. Then, taking that to the next level, we conspired to cut a visual track to accompany a live performance of his song “Hollywood.” This is it with the recorded track for reference. Synching perfectly was something of a problem, but yet another example of Dick giving his audience added dimension.
