The Backyardjammers play Rodney Crowell's - I Couldn't Leave You if I Tried. (Please excuse the mistakes. This is 7:00 AM and we had played until 1:00PM the night before. We actually played 4 gigs in 26 hours)
Every year during Stampede week here in Calgary, the Bowness Lions Club and the Merchants of the Community of Bowness put on the Second biggest parade in Calgary.
Of course the Calgary Stampede and exhibition is touted as the GREATEST OUTDOOT SHOW ON EARTH and I would have to agree.
On the first Friday of Stampede week there is the Official Stampede Parade. This 2.5 hour parade is world famous. On the next day we hold our own Parade in the community of Bowness. This one hour parade is the second largest parade during Stampede. To go along with this parade our Bowness Lions Club and the Merchants and Volunteers hold a massive Pancake Breakfast. Every year we serve more than 5000 complete breakfast's (No small undertaking). This Breakfast and Parade is such a big deal it is even in the Alberta Tourism book.
This Year was very special for us as we had the pleasure of Jody and my daughter Danielle playing with us. Danielle is only 15 and learned to play guitar by herself. She took Violin lessons for a year and then decided she wanted a break. I guess the over 20 guitars sitting around our house was too much for her to resist. Jody and I both come from very musical families and I am proud to say the Tradition looks like it will continue with our children. Jody and I are very lucky Parents to get the opportunity of playing music with our kids.
