Here's a toe-tapping tune Don Neely wrote in the style of the early 1930s to help us deal with life's frustrations. Featuring Carla Normand on the vocal and musicians of the Royal Society Jazz Orchestra. You may likely find yourself singing this 1930s-inspired song, "It Is What It Is," when trouble comes your way. That's because it's so darned memorable! And it's adaptable to many situations. Method of recording: Each of the musicians, all eleven of them, recorded their musical parts individually, ON DIFFERENT DAYS, with their smart phones, in their own separate homes, from Sacramento to Mountain View, and all around the San Francisco Bay Area. We didn't use Zoom. The many audio and video pieces were edited and then mixed together into a work of art by Brandon Au. We hope you'll enjoy the video of "It Is What It Is," and that you'll share it with your friends!

Lyrics Verse:
We often find ourselves in situations,
That are completely out of our control.
The other day I had a revelation,
A simple thought that now I must extoll.
So when you're mad as hell and you can't take it anymore,
Here's an old philosophy I'd like you to explore.
Chorus:
It Is What It Is,
No use complaining.
You will only upset yourself.
And whatever it is,
There's no explaining.
And besides it will ruin your health.
So, when everything fails,
Just lower your standards,
To where 'ignorance is bliss.'
In time this too shall pass,
With time remaining,
Just remember,
It Is What It Is.
Second Chorus:
So, if you've had enough,
And feel like screaming,
That you can't go on like this!
Why don't you try to pretend,
That you are dreaming,
And remember,
It Is What It Is,
No use complaining,
Just remember,
It Is What It Is.
