Description
Did you know that Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock wrote "Danger Zone" for the opening sequence of the movie "Top Gun" with Berlin in mind? Moroder thought better of it and traded that song for the ballad "Take My Breath Away" which gave Berlin a #1 Pop hit.
"Danger Zone" was then offered to Kenny Loggins who was golden when it came to soundtrack singles. Moroder took Loggins suggestions to improve the song and incorporated them into the final recording. The song was then released on May 10, 1986 at #85, peaking at #2 for one week. The song that kept him out of the top spot? "Sledgehammer"! It was released the same day as "Danger Zone" entering the chart at #89, four spots after Loggins but catapulted over Loggins and took over the pole position.
When I took TV and Video production, I was given "Danger Zone" to create a video as a project and was given footage of a military air show in the desert.
I put it together as I went along and it turned out great! I got an A on it.
