BIKFAYA, LEBANON - Funeral of Lebanese composer and musician Ziad Rahbani who died aged 69 on Saturday (July 26).
Ziad Rahbani, the son of iconic Lebanese chanteuse Fairuz, is credited for creating a distinct Lebanese sound from Western and Arabic musical roots and was known for his critique of Lebanon's sectarian politics as well as his steadfast solidarity for Palestinians.
Alongside Fairuz, in the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin in Bikfaya in the Mount Lebanon region, hundreds of people have gathered to offer their condolences.
Alongside Fairuz (in the black veil), present in the video are Ziad Rahbani's sister Rima, his maternal aunt Huda, and several of his cousins, including the musicians Oussama, Ghassan and Jad Rahbani.
Earlier this morning, thousands lined the streets of Beirut to honour the life and works of Ziad Rahbani as his coffin left the hospital and made its way to Bikfaya for the funeral.
