Maggie Bell foi vocalista da banda de rock escocesa Stone the Crows, que se separou depois que seu guitarrista foi fatalmente eletrocutado no palco. Dirigido por Peter Grant (Led Zeppelin) e produzido por Jerry Wexler (Aretha Franklin), Bell fez uma estreia solo surpreendentemente boa que parecia posicioná-la como a herdeira de Janis Joplin (mesmo cobrindo "A Woman Left Lonely"). Mas ela nunca rompeu comercialmente, nem mesmo quando Jimmy Page tocou guitarra em seu álbum seguinte - a única maneira que ela superou Joplin foi se mantendo viva.
