Description
In Greek mythology, Maia was a Pleiad nymph, the eldest of the seven daughters of Atlas and Pleione, and the mother of the god Hermes by Zeus. She was a shy goddess who lived in a cave on Mount Cyllene, where she gave birth to Hermes. Maia was also associated with fertility and growth, and some believe the month of May is named after her.
