Today is the day in which we honor our Lady of Guadalupe, The Virgin Mary, mother of our savior Jesus Christ. I thought it would be appropriate to sing the song Mary's Boy Child. This common Christmas carol was written by Jester Hairston and originally performed by Harry Belafonte, released in 1956. I'm quite familiar with Belafonte due to his songs Banana Boat, Jump In The Line, and Turn The World Around. I saw Belafonte as a guest star on The Muppet Show, and it's quite cool knowing that Belafonte was a mentor and confidant to Martin Luther King Jr. I've been listening to this song a lot, and I love the slow beat to it and knew I wanted to sing it. I'd like to dedicate this cover to my mom, who really loves this song.
