Description

This is the oldest known Scandinavian song. It's lyrics and melody were found at the end of the Codex Runicus, a law book written entirely in runes. The Latin alphabet was introduced around 1100, and any song to make it into such an important book was presumably in oral tradition before it was written down. So, pretty likely to originate in the Viking period.

There are just two lines, written in the old Danish language. There are lots of lovely versions in modern Danish with added lyrics and new melodies written to make it a full song, but I wanted to stick to just this original bit.
