One of my favorite movies is Cars! I especially like the life lessons that are woven throughout the movie. Like the moment Lightning McQueen - a race car who ends up in a small town called Radiator Springs - discovers how the town used to be this bustling place where the people and the streets were full of life, and their companies were flourishing, and then there comes the flashback and you see the town as it once was. James Taylor sings that beautiful song 'Our Town' (composed by Randy Newman).

When I last heard this song again, it hit me how the lyrics of the song are so fitting for this time we are in. When I walk around in my village, it is still the town I like to live in, where the people know each other. But there is also a certain sadness, the loss of how things once were.

‘Mainstreet isn’t mainstreet anymore. Lights don’t shine as brightly as they shown before. (…) We love it anyway. Come what may. It’s our town.”
