The Tony-winning Broadway mainstay opens her newest cabaret tonight.
On the heels of her 2013 Far Away Places concert, Patti LuPone (Gypsy) begins her latest two-week stay at 54 Below this evening, with her new cabaret show The Lady With the Torch, running at the Broadway supper club through August 3. The two-time Tony Award winner will bring back the Great White Way's glory days with a bill that features a roster of legendary composers such as Arthur Schwartz, Howard Dietz, Jule Styne, Sammy Cahn, Billy Barnes, Harold Arlen, George and Ira Gershwin, and Cole Porter. LuPone took some time to chat with TheaterMania about her return to the old-timey venue before taking the mic tonight, sharing why the intimate space holds such a soft place in her heart.
