Argentines and tourists alike gathered on Sunday to celebrate the Day of the Gaucho.
Gauchos, the traditional Argentine cowboys, paraded through San Antonio de Areco, some 72 miles north of Buenos Aires; a town widely recognized as the birthplace of the Argentine tradition.
The town is known for its dancing, music and horse-led performances and the event has drawn Gauchos from all over Argentina hoping to participate in the tradition for the past 76 years.
San Antonio de Areco dates back to the early 18th century and is a living museum to the nomadic horsemen, who much like the North American cowboy, have become a national institution.
