NOTE: The High Hatters were a Victor studio orchestra led by Leonard Joy – band leader and songwriter, a music director for Victor and later Decca Records. Joy directed a large number of dance orchestras for the company, including the Southerners, All String Orchestra, and many uncredited bands yet his most notable orchestra was The High Hatters – considered as one of the finest American dance bands of the late 1920s and early 1930s. The Leonard Joy’s High Hatters were contracted with Victor Records exclusively, on the contrary to a number of other bands that also used the name “High Hatters”, such as Webster Moore’s High Hatters released on Columbia budget labels or Phil Hughes’ High Hatters on Perfect. In Dec 1934 the name of the Leonard Joy’s High Hatters appears for the last time on the Victor labels.

„Murray Anderson’s Almanac” was a Broadway musical comedy staged at Erlanger’s Theatre in 44 St. from 14 Aug. until 11 Oct 1929 and despite many catchy tunes written by the best athors (Yellen, Ager, Noel Coward) it was closed after only 69 performences. The Great Depression came shortly thereafter.
