Description
Roll On By - the first single from Face Ache's upcoming EP titled 'Almond Blossom'.
This track is about dealing with issues such as self identity and trying to find your way in a world that will seemingly forget about you very quickly. The lyrics were inspired by the book, 'The boy, the mole, the fox, and the horse', which touches on similar topics in a beautifully creative way. The soundscapes in this song have been mainly influenced by bands such as 'The Police', and 'The Blue Nile', as well as artists such as, 'Joan Armatrading', and 'Van Morrison.
What do you know about leaving home?
Should I bury my heart beneath the snow?
You know I got lost three weeks ago
And I’m finding it hard to see through this smoke
What do you know about falling through?
Through the frame, into the blue
Would you light up every town and moon?
And if I fall, would you catch me too?
So what do you know about leaving home?
I left my heart beneath the snow
I’ve been waiting for the trees to go
I’ll wait for love to bring me home
I’ve wasted time, but it felt right
I was scared to leave, now I wanna fly
And on your shoulders I feel so tall
I know you’ll catch me every time I fall
The trains come and go
And the rivers roll on by
All my life I’ve been following the right path
I didn’t see it, I was caught up in the death trap
All the early mornings and the late nights
All the time spent wandering if I should drive
Away
The trains come and go
And the rivers roll on by
