Description
American ragtime composer Scott Joplin’s “Palm Leaf Rag” was written in 1903, early in Joplin’s career. The “Palm Leaf Rag”, in contrast to many of his other rags, maintains an ABCA structure. While the first and second strains are in B-flat Major, the third strain temporarily enters the subdominant E-flat Major before returning to the original key once the first strain reappears.
