A tragedie lyrique composed by Johann Gottlieb Naumann with first performance in 1786 at the Royal Opera House in Stockholm. The opera is dedicated to Gustav Vasa, the founder of Sweden. The painting depicts Gustav Vasa at the Battle of Brännkyrka in 1518 fought between Swedish and Kalmar Union forces.
