Weaver was born in the Louisville, Ky area in 1896 & OKeh Records called him “The Man with the Talking Guitar”. Weaver made history on October 24, 1923, when he fingerpicked accompaniment to vaudeville singer Sara Martin’s “Longing for Daddy Blues,” becoming the first guitarist to back a blues singer on record.
