Description
"Taps" is a bugle call – a signal, not a song. Lyrics were subsequently added and can be found in various hymnals. "Taps" is sounded nightly in some military installations at non-deployed locations to indicate that it is "lights out". Horace Lorenzo Trim wrote a set of words intended to accompany the music composed by Union Army Brigadier General Daniel Butterfield.
