From the liner notes:
Toufic Farroukh is an experimental saxophone player who blends jazz, electronica and pop with Arabic music. Originally from Lebanon, Farroukh has been living in Paris for the past 20 years, and has become an important member of that city’s multicultural and avant-garde music scene. Farroukh studied at Ecole Normale Superieure, one of Paris’s best music schools, and is the leader of the Absolut Orchestra, a genre-bending ensemble that includes traditional Middle Eastern instruments such as ney (flute) and oud (lute) alongside electric guitar, synthesizer and trombone.
“Lili S’en Fout” features the French-language vocals of Soap Kills member Yasmine Hamdan, and was the standout track on Farroukh’s acclaimed 2002 release Drab:Zeen. Middle Eastern violin and oud blends effortlessly with a laid back funk groove.
