It consists of two live performances recorded during the tour for their "The Unforgettable Fire" album and two B-sides of singles from the album previously only available in the United Kingdom. "Bad," a song about heroin addiction, was recorded live at The National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England in November, 1984 and was produced by the band. "A Sort of Homecoming" was recorded at Wembley Arena in London a few days later and was produced by David Bowie's longtime collaborator Tony Visconti. Yeah, woo-hoo
And you know it's time to go
Through the sleet and drivin' snow
Across the fields of mourning
Lights in the distance
And you hunger for the time
Time to heal, desire time
And your Earth moves beneath
Your own dream landscape
Oh, ho, ho-oh
On borderland we run
Mmm-hmm-mmm, mmm-hmm-mmm
I'll be there, I'll be there
Tonight, we'll build a bridge across the sea and land
Ugh, woo, do it, ugh, ugh
The city walls are all gone down
The dust, a smokescreen all around
Faces plowed like fields that once
Gave no resistance
Oh, ho, ho-oh
(On borderland we run)
And still we run, we run and don't look back
I'll be there, I'll be there
(Tonight) tonight
I'll be there tonight, I'll be there soon
Oh, come away, oh, come away, oh, come
Oh, come away, say I, uh-huh
Oh, come away, oh, come away, oh, come
Oh, come away, say I
The wind will crack in wintertime
This bomb-blast lightning waltz
No spoken words, just a scream, yeah
Ooh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Tonight we'll build a bridge across the sea and land
I'll be there, I'll be there
(Tonight) tonight
And your heart beats so slow
Through the sleet and driving snow
(Across the fields of mourning)
(Lights in the distance)
Ah, don't sorrow, no, don't weep
For tonight with you
I am coming home
I am comin' home
