Description
Johann Gottfried Walther (1684-1748) was a German organist and composer, and the cousin of Johann Sebastian Bach. He was best known for his 'Musical Lexicon,' a large dictionary in the German language in relation to music and musicians. His principal musical works were 14 transcriptions of orchestral concertos and 132 organ preludes based on Lutheran chorale melodies, of which this work ('Become cheerful, my mind') is an example.
The pseudonymous Quilloby Blott played this chorale prelude as item 11 in the Hunter Baillie Memorial Presbyterian Church Twilight Recital on 26 July 2025.
