Song written by Hank Levy and featured in the 2014 movie by the same title. I laced up flat wound strings on the Warmoth for this song. Hadn't played flats in a long time and forgot how great they feel and sound. It could never completely mimick the sound of a double bass, but I enjoyed learning and recording it.

The film depicts the relationship between an ambitious jazz drummer and an abusive bandleader at the fictional Shaffer Conservatory.

The film received widespread critical acclaim, with particular praise for J.K. Simmons's performance (the bandleader). At the 87th Academy Awards, Whiplash won Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Supporting Actor for Simmons, and was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture.
